JUAN pushes forward as an overlapping full back on the right, while KEVIN provides width on the left. The whole defensive unit works to step up together to keep the distances between players small.

The midfield works as a central trio designed to control the middle of the park. SANTIAGO and VÍCTOR operate in the deep roles to shield the defense and break the lines with their passing. JONATHAN plays as an attacking ten, sitting behind the front three to create chances and link the midfield to the attack. These players must track back quickly to help the defense when possession is lost.

Peñarol employs three attackers to stretch the opposition. DARWIN works as a lone striker, using his immense physical strength and pressing intensity to lead the front line. GABRIEL and JUAN play as wide wingers, with GABRIEL looking to cut inside from the left and JUAN to provide width from the right.
