Rosario Central operates with a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup is built for a high press and rapid vertical play. The goal is to pin the opponent in their own half and create constant pressure through heavy attacking numbers. The defense begins with the goalkeeper acting as the anchor of the unit. A back four forms the foundation, with Scaglia and Guich operating as the central defenders. Scaglia and Guich must stay coordinated, with one player ready to cover if the other steps up to intercept a pass. Avalos and Pendino function as the wide defenders. Avalos will push forward to help the attack, while Pendino must track back quickly to defend against counter attacks. The unit must move together to maintain a high line or drop into a low block when needed.

In the center, the midfield works as a double pivot. Quiroz and Guzman are responsible for shielding the defense and controlling the center of the pitch. Quiroz stays deeper to hold his position, while Guzman can drive forward to break the line and link the back four to the attackers. This pair must be disciplined to prevent the opposition from finding space between the midfield and defensive units.

The attack is very heavy, using a front line of four players. Cantero and Pavoni act as the two central forwards, working to hold up the ball and pin the defenders back. Felici and Barrientos occupy the wide areas as wingers. Felici will look to cut inside to create shooting opportunities, while Barrientos uses his pace to stretch the play. The movement of these four attackers is designed to create gaps in the opposition defense through constant runs.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. By having four players near the opponent goal, Rosario Central can force turnovers in dangerous areas. Another strength is the ability to create wide overloads when the wingers and full backs overlap. This forces the opposition to shift constantly, often leaving gaps in the center for the forwards to exploit.
