Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo provide the width on the flanks, while Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Sesko occupy the central channels. Fernandes uses his passing range to break the line and find runners. Cunha and Mbeumo will often cut inside to create more presence in the box. These forwards are expected to press in waves to force errors high up the pitch.

One major strength of this formation is the ability to create numerical superiority in the final third. Having four attackers makes it very difficult for a standard back four to mark everyone. Another advantage for Man Utd is the speed of transition, as the team can move from a defensive block to a full attacking wave in seconds. The wide players can also quickly switch play to catch the defense off guard.
