Dinamo plays a 2-5-3 formation that focuses on a heavy high press and verticality. This lineup is built to dominate the middle of the pitch and overwhelm opponents through central density and rapid transitions. The goal is to win the ball high up the pitch and immediately push the ball forward to the attackers.

Livakovic keeps goal and manages the space behind the defense. The back line consists of only two central defenders, Magalhaes and Simunic, who must play a high line to keep the team compact. Because there are no wide defenders, these two must be dominant in the air and quick to cover the wide areas when the ball is switched. They act as the last line of defense before the goalkeeper, needing to intercept long balls and step up to intercept passes.

The midfield is the engine of Dinamo, utilizing a five man unit to control the game. Dario Simic sits as a deep midfielder to shield the defense, while Gvardiol acts as a second defensive midfielder to help protect the center. In the middle of this group, Modric uses his passing range to connect the lines, while Jerdvaj and Kovacic work to drive forward and break the line. Boban operates as the attacking midfielder to provide the final pass into the final third.

The attacking front three consists of wide players and a central striker. Suker stays on the left wing to cut inside, while Mandzuckic occupies the right wing to provide width and strength. Eduardo acts as the lone striker to hold up the ball and lead the press. This formation uses the wide players to stretch the defense, creating gaps in the middle for the attacking midfielder and the central striker to exploit.

This formation offers great numerical superiority in the midfield, making it hard for teams to play through the center. The ability to press high in coordinated waves allows Dinamo to win the ball near the opponent goal. By packing the middle, the team can also shift quickly to block passing lanes and force the opposition into wide areas where they can be pressed.
