Fiorentina Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Sophie H · Tessa · Izzy · Catrina · Rhea · Eliza · Sarah C · Ella · Jossie · Jullia (c) · ImmyFiorentina utilizes a 4-3-3 formation to drive their tactical identity. This lineup is built to play a high press and maintain heavy possession in the opponent's half. The goal is to use the width of the pitch to stretch the defense and create gaps for vertical runs.
Immy operates as the goalkeeper to lead the defensive unit. The back line functions as a flat back four with Jullia (c) at right back and Sarah C at left back. Jullia (c) will often overlap to support the attack, while Sarah C must stay disciplined to cover the space behind. Ella and Jossie act as the two central defenders. Ella is tasked to cover the left side while Jossie manages the right, and both must step up to intercept passes and block the path to goal.
The midfield relies on three players to bridge the gap between defense and attack. Izzy occupies the space as an attacking midfielder to drive the play forward and break the line. Eliza and Rhea sit deeper in the midfield to shield the center of the pitch. Eliza and Rhea must work to press the ball and shift as a unit to prevent the opposition from playing through the middle. Their ability to pass and move allows Fiorentina to transition quickly.
The attacking front line consists of three dedicated attackers. Catrina and Tessa play as wide wingers, with Catrina on the left and Tessa on the right. They use their positioning to stretch the play and can cut inside to find shooting lanes. Sophie H plays as the lone striker and is responsible for holding up the ball. She must also press the opposing center backs to disrupt their build up play.
A primary strength of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads when the full backs push up. This movement allows the team to isolate opponents in one on one situations. Additionally, the positioning of Izzy allows for numerical superiority in the attacking zones, making it harder for the opposition to mark every runner.
This 4-3-3 formation is ideal for a team that wants to control the rhythm through high intensity pressing. It works best against opponents who play a low block and can be stretched by wide movements.
