The midfield consists of a trio to control the center of the pitch. Cajuste sits in the middle to hold the position and shield the defense. Khedira and Özcan operate on either side of the central zone to drive forward and connect the defense to the front line. Union Berlin utilizes four attackers to stretch the opposition. Rønnew and Uduokhai act as the two central forwards, providing a heavy presence in the box. On the flanks, Bella-Kotchap and Doekhi play as wide attackers. Bella-Kotchap and Doekhi look to cut inside or provide width to create crosses for the central strikers.
