Bastian works to drive the ball forward and break the line, while Toni uses his passing range to connect the defense to the attack. These two players must constantly shift to cover gaps, intercept passes, and track back to maintain control in the middle of the pitch.

A front three stretches the opposition defense to create openings. Mario operates as a lone striker to hold up the ball and create space for his teammates. Arjen uses his dribbling to cut inside and shoot, while Fracnk also looks to cut inside to provide a cross. The front three press high to force mistakes, and this movement compels defenders to mark tightly or leave gaps in the back.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads as David and Phillip push high. The team can also press high in coordinated waves, using the front three to pin the opponent back. Such a formation allows for quick transitions and provides the ability to isolate wide players in one on one situations against the full backs.
