Starting Lineup

Jambo · Jamie H · Craig · Moggy · Joss · Noddy · Nathan · Scotty · Jamie T · Boab · Fatistuta

Milan operates with a 4-4-2 formation. This lineup is built to play a direct and balanced style of football. The goal is to use the presence of two strikers to pin back the opposing defense while maintaining a solid block in the middle of the pitch.

Jambo stays between the posts to command the area. The back line consists of a flat four where Jamie T and Boab act as the full backs. Jamie T works to overlap on the right while Boab provides cover on the left. In the center, Jamie H and Joss function as the two central defenders. They must communicate well to step up or drop back together to keep the line tight. This unit works to intercept passes and block crosses to protect the goal.

The midfield functions with a double pivot consisting of Craig and Noddy. These two sit in front of the defense to shield the back four and intercept play. Craig and Noddy act as the engine, with one often dropping deeper to collect the ball while the other looks to break the line with a vertical pass. Nathan and Scotty operate in the wide attacking roles. They connect the midfield to the front line, with Nathan looking to switch play and Scotty trying to drive forward into the channels.

The attacking phase relies on the partnership between Moggy and Fatistuta. Using two strikers allows Milan to put constant pressure on the opponent's central defenders. Fatistuta can act to hold up the ball, allowing the midfielders to push forward. Moggy can run into the space behind the defense to stretch the game. Nathan and Scotty provide the width required to cross into the box, creating a layered attack that forces the defense to shift constantly.

This formation offers several tactical advantages. The presence of Moggy and Fatistuta creates a numerical advantage against single central defenders, making it hard for opponents to mark both players. The double pivot of Craig and Noddy provides compactness when defending in a mid block. Furthermore, the ability of Nathan and Scotty to push high allows for quick transitions, catching teams out when they lose possession in the middle third.

This 4-4-2 formation creates a hard unit to break down through the center while remaining dangerous on the break. It is a lineup best suited for matches against teams that play with a single pivot or struggle to track two runners in the box.
