A high pressing identity defines PSG in this 4-5-1 formation. This lineup aims to suffocate the opposition in their own half by maintaining a high line and forcing quick turnovers. By crowding the central areas, the team intends to control the tempo of the game and transition quickly once the ball is recovered.

Ricard stays between the posts to organize the back four. A flat defensive line consists of Rastocle and Deslandes in the middle, while Germain and Goetsch provide width from the left and right flanks. Deslandes and Rastocle must stay compact to prevent runs through the center, while Germain and Goetsch are expected to push up to support the midfield. The defensive unit works to compress the space between the lines to make it difficult for opponents to play through the middle.

The midfield acts as a five man block to dominate the center of the pitch. Peron sits as the single pivot to shield the defense and intercept passes. In front of him, Ebayilin and Ouchene occupy the central roles to link the play and drive the ball forward. Malard and Collet operate in the half spaces as attacking midfielders, looking to break the lines with vertical passes. This grouping allows PSG to maintain control when they have the ball and provides enough bodies to track back when they lose it.

A lone striker, Katoto, leads the line to occupy the opposing center backs. This attacking arrangement relies on Malard and Collet to occupy the wide areas and provide crosses into the box. Katoto must hold up the ball to allow the attacking midfielders to join the play. The front line is designed to press the opposition defenders immediately, forcing them to hit long balls that the midfield can intercept.

One major strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using the five midfielders to hunt the ball. The formation also creates numerical superiority in the middle of the pitch, making it very hard for opponents to find passing lanes. PSG can also use the width of Germain and Goetsch to create overloads on the flanks, pulling defenders out of position to leave gaps for Malard or Collet to exploit.

This 4-5-1 formation provides a compact and aggressive way to dictate the game through pressure. It is best suited for facing teams that try to build play slowly from the back.
