LASK Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Bello · Jørgensen · Andrade · Tornich · Kalajdzic · Horvath · Schöpf · Usor · Danek · Lang · JungwirthA high pressing and vertical style of play defines LASK in this 2-4-4 formation. The lineup seeks to overwhelm opponents in their own half by committing many players forward to force turnovers. This aggressive intent means the team looks to win the ball high up the pitch and strike quickly before the opposition can settle.
Jungwirth acts as the last line of defense behind a very narrow back line. Andrade and Tornich operate as the two central defenders, tasked with covering huge amounts of space behind the midfield. Because the formation leaves the flanks open, these two must stay alert to intercept long balls and win aerial duels. They must step up to intercept passes and track runners to prevent counter attacks from bypassing the midfield.
The midfield block consists of a double pivot and two attacking midfielders. Bello and Jørgensen work to shield the two defenders, sitting deep to intercept play and break the line with vertical passes. Ahead of them, Horvath and Schöpf operate in the half spaces to create chances. Horvath and Schöpf push high to connect the midfield to the attack, ensuring the ball moves quickly from the central zone to the wide areas.
An aggressive front line utilizes two central forwards and two wide attackers. Usor and Kalajdzic lead the line as a dual strike partnership, working to hold up the ball and occupy the central defenders. Danek and Lang provide width on the flanks, cutting inside to create shooting lanes or stretching the defense to open gaps. This front four is designed to press the opposition backline relentlessly, forcing errors in dangerous areas.
LASK gains a significant advantage through extreme numerical superiority in the attacking third. By pushing Schöpf and Horvath so high, the team can create wide overloads that leave Danek and Lang in one on one situations. The coordination of the four forwards allows the team to press in waves, making it very difficult for opponents to build play from the back.
This high risk formation is built for total dominance and heavy pressure. It is best suited for games where LASK needs to break down a low block or when playing against teams that struggle to play out from the back.
