Starting Lineup

A heavy emphasis on defensive solidity defines Roma as they deploy a 5-4-1 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and absorb pressure before catching opponents on the break. They sit in front of the back five to block passing lanes and provide a link to the forward. On the wings, bravo and zenuni occupy the wide areas to provide width and support the wing backs. These four midfielders work as a unit to shift across the pitch, ensuring the team stays narrow and compact when the ball is on the opposite flank.

The attacking side of the Roma lineup relies on a lone striker, Augustin, to lead the line. He must hold up the ball to allow the midfield to move up the pitch and provide a target for long passes. Because the team plays with a single forward, Augustin is required to press the opposition defenders and disrupt their build up. The wide players, bravo and zenuni, look to cut inside or provide crosses from deep to support his movements in the box.
