Wojciech guards the goal and organizes the defensive unit from the back. The back line consists of three central defenders, with Grzegorz acting as the middle man while Jakub and Jan occupy the left and right central spots. This three man block provides a lot of cover when defending against crosses or through balls. Matty and Nicola act as wing backs, tasked with covering the entire flank to provide width. Matty pushes high to support the attack while Nicola must track back to help the central three when the team loses the ball.

The midfield works as a three man unit to control the center of the pitch. Damian and Piotr occupy the central roles to shield the defense and win the ball back. Damian often sits deeper to intercept passes and break the line of the opponent. Kamil plays in the attacking midfield role to connect the midfield to the forwards. Kamil looks to find space between the lines and play through balls to the two strikers. This midfield grouping ensures the team stays solid while providing a link to the front line.

A two man forward line allows the team to target the opposition defense directly. Robert and Arkadiusz lead the line as the two strikers. Robert is known for his clinical finishing and ability to hold up the ball under pressure. Arkadiusz works alongside him to press the defenders and create chaos in the box. The formation relies on these two to make runs behind the defense when Kamil or the wing backs find space to cross or pass.

One major advantage of this formation is the defensive compactness it offers when sitting in a low block. With five defenders and three midfielders, it is very hard for opponents to find gaps in the middle. Another strength is the ability to create wide overloads as Matty and Nicola push up to join the attackers. This forces the opposing full backs to make difficult decisions between marking the wing backs or staying with the wide attackers.

The 5-3-2 formation provides Poland with a reliable way to defend against teams that dominate possession. It is best suited for matches where the team needs to play on the counter and use the strength of Robert and Arkadiusz to score.
