Starting Lineup

Pierre · Delcroix · Duverne · Arcus · Experiénce · Jacques · Bellegarde · Isidor · Pierrot (Joseph) · Casimir (Deedson) · Etienne Jr (Providence)

Haiti plays a direct and high energy game through a 4-4-2. This formation is built to stay compact and react to the movement of the opposition. The team aims to win the second ball and move forward quickly to catch the opponent out of position.

Pierre works between the posts to guard the goal. The defense uses a flat back four where Arcus plays at right back and Experiénce plays at left back. Arcus and Experiénce need to stay wide to stretch the opposition and overlap the midfielders when possible. Delcroix and Duverne form the central pairing. Delcroix is there to win the header and Duverne acts to cover the space when the line steps up. The defenders work as a unit to squeeze the space and defend zonally.

The midfield works with a double pivot consisting of Bellegarde and Jacques. Bellegarde looks to carry the ball forward while Jacques sits deeper to shield the defense. This connection allows the team to move the ball from the defensive third into the final third. They connect the defensive and attacking lines by recycling possession. Casimir and Etienne Jr play as attacking midfielders behind the strikers. Etienne Jr works to find space to play through the lines and Casimir looks to arrive late into the box to add numbers to the attack.

Haiti uses two forwards in a partnership to lead the line. Pierrot and Isidor act as a pressing pair to force the opposition back line to drop deep. Pierrot often works to hold up the ball to allow others to move up, whereas Isidor focuses on runs in behind. The attack relies on quick combinations to break the line. When the team recovers the ball, they look to hit in behind on the transition with the wingers and midfielders supporting the two strikers.

A major advantage of this lineup is the compactness when defending in a mid-block. The double pivot of Bellegarde and Jacques helps to deny the pivot of the opposition. The team also benefits from the speed of transition when Isidor and Pierrot exploit space. This formation allows Haiti to stay solid while remaining a threat on the break.

This 4-4-2 is defined by its ability to stay compact and strike quickly. It is most effective against teams that control much of the ball and allow Haiti to defend deep and hit them on the break.
