Albania National Football Team Formation
Starting Lineup
Valentin · Anthony · Romain A · Wilson · Ange · Nico · Gabriel · Joey · Dylan · Djad · MalcolmAlbania plays with a heavy focus on controlling the middle of the pitch using a 2-6-2 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the ball and overwhelm the opposition in the central areas. The team aims to use a massive midfield block to squeeze the space in the center, making it difficult for opponents to find passing lanes.
Valentin guards the goal while the defense remains very minimal. Anthony and Romain A form a narrow central duo that must stay alert to any direct runs. These two center backs must hold the line and be ready to clear the lines if the midfield is bypassed. Because there are only two defenders, they often have to step up to intercept long balls and manage the space behind them to prevent being caught by runners.
The midfield is where the majority of the work happens for Albania. Nico sits in a single pivot role to shield the defense and pick up runners. He is joined by Joey and Gabriel as central midfielders who connect the defense to the attack. Dylan plays as an attacking ten behind the two strikers to find pockets of space. On the flanks, Wilson and Ange act as wide midfielders who provide width and can track back to help the center backs. This group of six is designed to win the second ball and recycle possession quickly to maintain control.
The attacking unit consists of two forwards working in a partnership. Djad and Malcolm operate as the front two, often looking to link up play between the lines. They use their positioning to pin the last defender and create room for Dylan to arrive late into the box. When the team attacks, they often look to combine in tight spaces or use the width provided by Wilson and Ange to stretch the defense. The forwards must also press from the front to force a long ball and win it back high up the pitch.
This formation offers significant numerical superiority in midfield, which allows Albania to control the rhythm of the game. By packing the center, they can create wide overloads when Wilson or Ange push forward to support the attack. The setup also allows for a very high press in coordinated waves, making it hard for opponents to play out from the back.
Albania uses this heavy midfield presence to suffocate opponents through central dominance. This formation is best suited for games where the team needs to dominate possession against a side that sits deep.
