Starting Lineup

Persib aims to play a heavy attacking game built on rapid transitions and verticality. This 4-2-4 formation is designed to pin the opposition back and create constant pressure in the final third. The lineup focuses on getting bodies forward as quickly as possible to overwhelm the opponent with numbers in the box.

Ivan Susak acts as the last line of defense, staying alert to long balls behind the back line. The defensive unit operates as a flat back four where Putros acts as the right back to support the wide areas. Eliano plays at left back and must track back quickly to cover the space left by the advanced attackers. In the center, Matricardi and Barba form the defensive core, with Matricardi acting as a ball playing defender to start attacks. They must defend zonally and be ready to win the second ball if the initial press is broken.

A double pivot provides the foundation for the midfield, with Haye and Klok working to control the center of the pitch. Klok works to shield the defense and win possession, while Haye looks to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Haye is tasked to carry the ball forward and play through the lines to reach the front four. These two midfielders must be disciplined to prevent being bypassed by central runners, as they are often left isolated against three opponents when Persib loses the ball.

The attack is incredibly aggressive, utilizing two forwards in a partnership of Adam Alis and Moraes. These two strikers work to press the opposition back line and find space between the defenders. On the flanks, Berginho and Maxwell act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to stretch the defence. This positioning allows Berginho to isolate his marker and Maxwell to cut inside into the half spaces. The team relies on combinations between the wingers and the central strikers to create chances through quick passing.

One major strength of this Persib formation is the ability to create wide overloads when the full backs push up to support the wingers. The team also benefits from the speed of transition, catching opponents out of position before they can settle into a defensive block. By having four players high up the pitch, they can quickly pin the last defender and force errors in the opposition half.
