Türkiye National Football Team Formation
Starting Lineup
uğurcan · abdülkerim · merih · ferdi · hakan · kenan · barış · arda · orkun · can uzun · ismailTürkiye aims to win the ball high up the pitch and strike quickly in transition. The national side uses a 4-5-1 formation to keep the game compact and control the central areas. This formation is built to win the second ball and move the team forward with verticality.
In goal, Uğurcan provides the first line of defence. The back four consists of Barış and Ferdi as the full backs, with Merih and Abdülkerim acting as the central pairing. Merih is dominant in the air, while Abdülkerim acts as a ball playing defender to help play out from the back. Ferdi pushes up to provide width, whereas Barış stays more conservative to cover the space. The unit holds a high line to squeeze the space between the lines.
The midfield relies on a double pivot consisting of İsmail and Hakan. Hakan uses his passing range to switch play and find teammates in advanced positions. İsmail stays deeper to shield the defence and win the second ball. Orkun works as the central carrier to progress through the thirds and connect the play. Ahead of him, Arda and Kenan operate as two tens in the half-spaces. Arda uses his dribbling to pull wide or cut inside, while Kenan searches for gaps to arrive late into the box.
The attack features a lone striker in Can Uzun. He acts as a pressing centre-forward to force the opposition back line into mistakes. When the team moves forward, the width comes from Ferdi and Barış overlapping the winger. Arda and Kenan look to play through the lines to find Can Uzun, who can hold up the ball to let others join the attack. The goal is to isolate one on one situations for the wide players or deliver early crosses into the box.
One major strength of Türkiye is the numerical superiority in midfield. By packing the centre with five players, they can easily compress the midfield and deny the turn to opponents. Another advantage is the speed of transition. When the midfield wins the ball, they immediately look to hit in behind on the transition to exploit the space behind the opposition defence.
This 4-5-1 formation creates a hard block to break down. It is a lineup best used against teams that prefer to dominate possession and leave space behind their midfield.
