Ghana plays with a high press and a direct style of football in a 4-4-2 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and strike quickly before the opposition can settle. By using two lines of four, the Black Stars aim to squeeze the space in the middle and force opponents into mistakes.

Anang guards the goal and oversees the defensive unit. The back line operates as a flat back four with Senaya and Rahman Baba providing width. Senaya is expected to push forward to support the attack, while Rahman Baba stays wider to stretch the opposition. In the center, Opoku and Adjetey defend the area, with Opoku acting as a ball playing defender to help play out from the back. These players must hold the line to maintain a compact shape when the team drops into a mid-block.

The midfield is a four man unit that focuses on winning second balls and controlling the center. Partey acts as the single pivot to shield the defence and recycle possession. Alongside him, Owusu and Semenyo work to press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch. Semenyo uses his energy to drive forward with the ball and connect the defensive and attacking lines. Nuamah operates in the pockets of space as an attacking ten, looking to play through the lines and find the forwards.

The attacking unit relies on two forwards in a partnership to punish tired defences. Ayew leads the line as a pressing centre-forward, often looking to link up play between the lines. Williams plays as the second striker, making runs in behind to exploit gaps in the opposition back line. The team builds attacks by using the wingers to spread wide and deliver crosses, or by playing direct to find the feet of the striker. This combination of wide service and central movement creates many chances in transition.

Ghana offers several tactical advantages through this formation. The team can create numerical superiority in midfield when Nuamah moves closer to the strikers. They are also capable of wide overloads if Senaya and the winger overlap to pin the last defender. This setup allows for great speed of transition, meaning the team can break quickly as soon as they win possession in the middle third.

This 4-4-2 formation provides a balance of defensive solidity and attacking threat. It is best suited for matches against teams that play a high line and can be caught on the break.
