Middleboe and Bertelsen must work hard to win the ball and immediately look to play through the lines to the front four. They act as the link between the defensive unit and the attack, often dropping deeper to pick up the ball from the center backs to recycle possession and switch play to the wings.

Denmark utilizes four attackers to pin the opposition back. Simonsen and Praest operate as wide wingers, with Simonsen on the right and Praest on the left, looking to cut inside or get to the byline. In the center, M. Laudrup and Elkjaer operate as a strike partnership. M. Laudrup uses his movement to find space between the lines, while Elkjaer acts as a physical presence to hold up the ball. This front line is designed to create runs in behind and use combinations to break the defensive block.

One major tactical advantage is the ability to create wide overloads when the full backs push up to support the wingers.
