Kimmich works as a deep lying playmaker, using his passing range to find teammates and progress through the thirds. Comotto acts as a carrier in the midfield to drive forward with the ball and connect the defensive and attacking lines. This trio works together to win the second ball and ensure the team remains solid when the opponent tries to play through the middle.

The attacking line uses three attackers to pressure the opposition back line. Guirassy acts as the lone striker to hold up the ball and find the feet of his teammates. On the wings, Garnacho and Pulišić operate as inverted wingers who cut inside to create goal scoring chances. Garnacho uses his dribbling style to beat defenders, while Pulišić looks to find space between the lines. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball and allow the midfield to intercept.

Milan can gain numerical superiority in midfield when Kimmich and Comotto push up to support the attack. The team also creates wide overloads when Estupiñán and Čelik move forward to overlap the wingers.
