Pedri operates in the half space to connect the defensive and attacking lines with his passing range. Olmo plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to find the feet of the forwards and arrive late into the box. This trio works to control the ball and ensure the team can transition from a mid block to an attacking phase.

In the attacking phase, Spain uses three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. Yamal plays as an inverted winger on the right to cut inside and create chances, while N. Williams plays on the left to stretch the play with his pace and dribbling style. Oyarzabal plays as a pressing centre-forward to lead the line and win the second ball. The team looks to build in triangles to break the lines and find the wingers in one on one situations.

One major advantage for Spain is the numerical superiority in midfield when Pedri and Olmo push up. The team can also create wide overloads when Llorente and Yamal combine on the right flank. The coordination of the front three allows the team to press in pairs to force a long ball from the opponent.
