Starting Lineup

France operates with a high press and a very direct offensive intent using a 4-2-4. This formation is built to stretch the defence and hunt for goals by keeping many players high up the pitch. They must work hard to cover the space left behind by the advancing full backs.

France uses four attackers to pin the opposition back. Ousmane Dembélé and Kylian Mbappé lead the line as two central forwards. Mbappé is famous for his explosive pace and clinical finishing, while Dembélé looks to create chaos. On the flanks, Bradley Barcola (Dué) plays as a wide winger on the left and Michael Olise plays on the right. Both wingers look to cut inside to create numbers in the box. The front four press in pairs to force the opposition into mistakes and win the ball high up the pitch.

This formation offers significant attacking threats and the ability to create wide overloads when the full backs push up. The heavy presence in the final third allows France to attack in combinations and overwhelm the opposition box.
