Colón aims to be defensively solid and hard to break down using a 4-5-1. This formation is built to play a compact style of football that prioritizes staying organized in a mid-block before looking to hit opponents on the turn. The lineup focuses on squeezing the space between the lines to prevent the opposition from playing through the center.

Matías Budiño operates between the posts to guard the goal. The back line sits in a flat back four where Mauro Peinipil and Leandro Allende act as full backs to provide width and cover the flanks. Pier Barrios and Federico Rasmussen form the central pairing, with Rasmussen providing aerial strength and Barrios acting as the covering defender when the line steps up. This defensive unit functions to keep the team compact and protect the central zones.

The midfield is a five man block designed to control the central areas of the pitch. Federico Lértora and Ignacio Antonio form a double pivot to shield the defense and win the second ball. Moving higher up, Darío Sarmiento, Julián Marcioni, and Ignacio Lago occupy the half spaces to link the defensive and attacking lines. Lértora works to recycle possession while Antonio acts as the primary screen, and the other three midfielders work to press aggressively to win the ball high when the team enters a mid-block.

Colón uses a lone striker in Alan Bonansea to lead the line. Bonansea acts as a pressing centre forward to bother the opposition back line and hold up the ball to allow the midfielders to join the attack. The attack is built through quick transitions where the wide midfielders look to find Bonansea in behind or deliver crosses into the box. The team looks to create runs in behind and uses the width of the midfielders to stretch the defense.

One major tactical advantage is the ability to maintain compactness when defending, which makes it difficult for opponents to find gaps. The double pivot of Lértora and Antonio provides a strong foundation to stop central play. Additionally, the five man midfield allows Colón to create numerical superiority in the center, making it easier to win possession and break quickly.

This 4-5-1 formation provides a reliable way to sit deep and frustrate better technical sides. It is best suited for games where the team needs to defend a lead or play against an opponent that dominates possession.
