Morocco National Football Team Formation
Starting Lineup
WW · YAS · Ratje · Kaissi · Jalal · Amin · Ayman · Hos · Hamza · Yoenoes · RamiMorocco prefers to play with a heavy defensive focus and quick transitions using a 5-3-2. This formation is built to sit deep and absorb pressure before hitting the opponent on the break. The lineup relies on a compact defensive unit that is difficult to break down when they sit in a low block.
Rami acts as the last line of defense in goal. The defensive line is a back five where Jalal sits in the center as the main anchor. WW and Kaissi play as the wide centre-backs to cover the spaces behind the wing backs. YAS and Ratje occupy the wide positions as attacking wing backs, tasked with providing width and tracking back to defend the flanks. This unit is designed to protect the middle and force the opposition to the wings.
The midfield operates as a three man midfield with a carrier and a creative spark. Hos and Amin sit in the central roles to shield the defence and win the second ball. Ayman plays as an attacking ten behind the two forwards to link the midfield and attack. Ayman looks to play through the lines to find the strikers. Hos and Amin must work to compress the midfield and stop opponents from playing between the lines.
Morocco uses two forwards in a partnership to lead the attack. Hamza and Yoenoes play as a strike duo that looks to run in behind the opposition defence. They often work in combinations to pull defenders out of position. The wing backs YAS and Ratje push high to offer width, which allows Hamza and Yoenoes to stay central and find space. When the team wins the ball, the forwards press the opposition back line to force mistakes.
One major strength is the compactness when defending in a narrow defensive block. The five defenders and three midfielders make it very hard for teams to find gaps in the center. Another advantage is the ability to use the wing backs to create wide overloads once the team transitions into attack. This makes the Moroccan side dangerous when they can move the ball quickly from defense to the wide areas.
This 5-3-2 formation is ideal for teams that want to defend deep and counter at pace. It works best against teams that hold a lot of possession and leave space behind their back line.
