Starting Lineup

Hajduk relies on a heavy defensive presence to look for opportunities on the break, employing a 5-4-1 formation. Biuk can push up to provide width, but his primary duty is to stop crosses and protect the flank. The defensive unit works to hold a compact shape, ensuring the gaps between the defenders remain closed.

A four man midfield sits in front of the back five to protect the central areas. Elez operates in the left central midfield role, looking to win the second ball and recycle possession. The midfield line includes Mikanović on the right side and another midfielder on the left, alongside a second central midfielder to complete the unit. These players must press in a mid-block to force a long ball from the opposition. The midfield links the defense to the attack by looking to find the wide players or the striker quickly once the ball is won.

The attacking setup uses a lone striker to lead the line. This player must hold up the ball and wait for support to arrive from the midfield or the wing backs. Because there is only one striker, the team relies on the wingers and wing backs to provide the width needed to stretch the defence. When Hajduk wins the ball, the goal is to hit in behind on the transition, using the pace of the wide players to attack the space left by the opposition.
