(?)Inter aims to control games through a heavy high press and rapid transitions using a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup is built to squeeze the pitch and win the ball back high up the pitch to catch opponents before they can organize. By utilizing a back five, Inter creates a solid base that allows the wide players to push high and disrupt the opposition.
The defensive unit functions with a central goalkeeper who acts as the last line of defense. In front of him, the back five consists of three central defenders and two wing backs. Xvv operates as the right centre-back, providing stability alongside the other two central defenders who must be dominant in the air and able to sweep behind a high line. NK plays as the right wing back, tasked with providing width and tracking back to cover the flank. Poxmelator acts as the left wing back, ready to push up the pitch to support the attack. This defensive block can drop into a low block when under pressure or step up to maintain a high line.
The midfield utilizes a double pivot to control the center of the pitch. Undertaker plays as the right central midfielder, looking to carry the ball forward and link the defense to the attack. Fishy operates as the left central midfielder, working to win the second ball and press aggressively to regain possession. These two players must work hard to protect the space between the midfield and the back line. They act as the engine, recycling possession and attempting to play through the lines to find the attackers.
In the attacking third, the team employs three attackers to pin the opposition back line. Rekro leads the line as a pressing centre-forward, working to hold up the ball and create space for others. Hiyar operates on the right wing, looking to cut inside and threaten the goal. The left winger provides additional width and movement to stretch the defence. The forwards work in combinations, often looking to hit in behind on the transition or deliver early crosses into the box to find Rekro.
One major advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it very difficult for opponents to build from the back. The presence of NK and Poxmelator creates wide overloads when they overlap the wingers, forcing the opposition to defend in much larger spaces. Additionally, the three central defenders provide great compactness when defending deep, making it hard to find gaps in the middle.
This 5-2-3 formation is designed to dominate through aggressive pressing and quick verticality. It is best suited for games against teams that struggle to play out from the back under heavy pressure.
