Starting Lineup

Kadioglu · Celik · Bardakci · Demiral · K. Yildiz · Kökcü · Calhanoglu · B.A. Yilmaz · Güler · Uzun · Cakir

Türkiye plays with an aggressive 2-5-3 formation. The team relies on a high press and a vertical style to disrupt opponents. This lineup is built to dominate the center of the pitch and use high numbers to control the ball.

Cakir stays in goal to manage the defense. The back line is a narrow pair consisting of Bardakci and Demiral. They play with a high line to squeeze the pitch and force the opposition back. Bardakci and Demiral must be ready to step up to set the offside trap or cover wide areas if the ball is switched. Because the defensive unit is so small, they must win the header in aerial duels and be quick to clear the lines.

The midfield is a massive five man block. Celik and Kadioglu work as a double pivot to shield the two central defenders and win the second ball. Ahead of them, Calhanoglu and Kökcü operate to link the defensive and attacking lines. Calhanoglu uses his passing range and set piece delivery to play through the lines and find teammates. Uzun plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to find pockets of space and arrive late into the box. This central density makes it hard for opponents to pass through the middle.

Three attackers lead the charge in the front line. K. Yildiz acts as the central striker to lead the press from the front. B.A. Yilmaz and Güler provide the wide presence, with B.A. Yilmaz looking to cut inside and Güler to find ways to pull wide. The front three aim to pin the last defender and create runs in behind. The attack moves in combinations to find the feet of the striker or deliver a cross from the wide areas. When the team wins the ball, they look to break quickly and hit in behind on the transition.

A major strength is the numerical superiority in the center. Having five players in the middle allows Türkiye to overload the opposition and recycle possession easily. The ability to press high in coordinated waves is another key advantage. By having Uzun, K. Yildiz, B.A. Yilmaz, and Güler all close to the defense, the team can trigger a press very high up the pitch. This forces a long ball and allows the defenders and pivots to win the second ball.

This 2-5-3 formation is a heavy attacking lineup designed to squeeze the opposition. It is best suited for situations where the team wants to pin an opponent in their own half and control the game through central dominance.
