PSG Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Emiliano (Portero) · Balu · Señor Joel · Ximena · Meri · Leslie · Karla · Osmar · Juan · Melanie · MariPSG focuses on heavy verticality and high pressure with a 3-3-4 formation. This lineup is built to overwhelm the opponent in the final third and hunt for the ball immediately upon losing it. The team aims to drive straight at the goal by using a massive front line to pin the opposition defense deep.
Emiliano starts in goal to organize the back line. The defensive unit operates with a back three consisting of Balu, Meri, and Señor Joel. Balu acts as the right centre back to cover the wide area, while Señor Joel stays on the left side of the central trio. Meri sits in the middle of the three to hold the line and win the second ball. The defenders work to squeeze the space between the lines and play out from the back to start attacks.
The midfield works in a three man midfield with a carrier and two supporting players. Karla sits in the attacking midfield role to connect the defense to the front four and find the feet of the striker. Ximena and Leslie operate in the central areas to control the rhythm and win it back high up the pitch. Leslie and Ximena must cover a lot of ground to prevent being bypassed by the opposition during transitions.
PSG utilizes four attackers to stretch the defense. Juan and Melanie act as two central forwards who compete for space in the box and try to run in behind. Mari plays on the left wing to pull the defense apart, while Osmar occupies the right wing to provide width. These attackers press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. The movement of Juan and Melanie creates opportunities for Mari and Osmar to cut inside or receive crosses.
This formation offers great numerical superiority in the attacking third, making it hard for the opponent to defend the middle and the flanks at the same time. PSG can also press in coordinated waves to win the ball high up the pitch. The ability to pin the last defender with four players allows the team to create many chances in transition.
The 3-3-4 lineup is a high risk, high reward system designed to dominate through sheer numbers in the final third. It is best suited for matches where PSG needs to break down a low block and force the game into a chaotic state.
