PSG Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Emiliano · Osmar · Juan · Meri · Ximena · Mari · Melanie · Karla · Leslie · Señor Joel · BaluPSG focuses on heavy attacking pressure and verticality with a 3-3-4 formation. This lineup aims to overwhelm the opposition by packing the final third and forcing mistakes through sheer volume of players in advanced areas. The system is built to play a high intensity game that relies on quick transitions and direct attacking movements to catch defensive lines off guard.
Emiliano stays between the posts to command his area and manage the space behind the defense. A back three consisting of Juan, Meri, and Osmar forms the foundation of the defensive unit. Meri acts as the central anchor while Juan and Osmar cover the wide areas within the back three. They must be prepared to step up to catch opponents offside or drop back to cover if the opposition hits in behind. The unit works to squeeze the space between the midfield and the defensive line to prevent easy passes into the center.
The midfield relies on a three man midfield with a carrier and two central players. Mari and Ximena work to control the middle of the pitch, with Mari often tasked to carry the ball forward and Ximena helping to win the second ball. Melanie operates in the hole as an attacking ten behind the striker line. She works to connect the midfield to the attack and looks to play through the lines to find the forwards. This trio must work hard to protect the back three when the team loses possession in the final third.
PSG uses four attackers to stretch the opposition defense. Leslie and Señor Joel operate as a central partnership, with one acting as a target man to hold up the ball and the other looking to run in behind. Balu and Karla provide width as wide wingers, with Balu hugging the touchline on the left and Karla doing the same on the right. The wingers are expected to cut inside to create more central presence or whip it in for the two strikers. This front line presses the opposition back line relentlessly to force a long ball.
The main advantage of this formation is the massive numerical superiority in the attacking zone. By committing four players to the front, PSG can create wide overloads and isolate defenders in one on one situations. The team also benefits from the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using the front four to trigger a press that the midfield can then join. This creates high pressure that can win the ball back high up the pitch.
This aggressive formation is designed for teams that want to dominate possession and attack with constant numbers. It is best suited for matches against opponents that play a low block and can be overwhelmed by heavy numbers in the box.
