They work to stay connected to deny the turn of any attackers.

A three-man midfield with a carrier provides the engine. PACO and VALENTI play in the central roles to shield the defence and intercept passes. VAN DE KAMP has the license to carry the ball forward and link the defensive unit to the attacking line. On the wings, PASSANTI and BARISIC act as wing backs to provide the width. These players must track back to help the defenders and then push up to support the front line.

To lead the attack, Juventus employs two forwards in a partnership. MEDELLES acts as a pressing centre-forward to win the ball high up the pitch, while EMERIC looks to make runs in behind the defence. PASSANTI and BARISIC pull wide to stretch the defence and allow the midfielders to arrive late into the box. The players prefer to combine in tight spaces before looking to split the defence with a through ball.

One major advantage is the numerical superiority in midfield, which helps Juventus control the game. The wing backs, PASSANTI and BARISIC, can create wide overloads by overlapping the wide players.
