Inter focuses on defensive solidity and rapid transitions, using a 5-2-3 formation to control space. This lineup is built to sit in a mid-block and win the second ball before launching direct attacks. The goalkeeper sits behind a back five that provides heavy cover across the width of the pitch. When the team wins the ball high up the pitch, the forwards press from the front to force a long ball and regain possession quickly.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages, specifically the ability to create wide overloads through the movement of NK and the LWB. Inter can also achieve a high degree of compactness when defending, making it very difficult for opponents to play through the middle. The speed of transition allows the team to hit in behind on the transition, using the width of Rekro and Xvv to isolate wide players in one on one situations.
