Piast Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Plach (+) (Grelich, Holec? MM-D?) · Borowski (Twumasi) · J.Rivas (Pitan?) · Drapinski (Czerwinski) · Lewicki (Fikaj) · Łabojko (Maziarz) · Lesniak (Slota?) · Boisgard (J.Felix, Kopczynski) · Katsantonis (Dalmau, Kucharski, GB?) · Vallejo (Sanca, Daniel?) · Lokilo (I.Lima, Mucha)Piast focuses on a high press and verticality through a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup seeks to win the ball high up the pitch and move it forward quickly to catch the opposition out of position. The team looks to play with intensity, using aggressive movements to unsettle the opponent in their own half.
Plach guards the goal and directs the defensive unit. The back line works as a flat back four where Borowski acts as a right back to provide width, while Lewicki occupies the left back position. In the center, J.Rivas and Drapinski operate as the central defenders, tasked with holding the line and winning the second ball. J.Rivas and Drapinski must stay compact to defend zonally and ensure they do not get caught if the team plays a high line.
The midfield is a three-man midfield with a carrier and creative presence. Lesniak and Łabojko work in the central areas to press in a mid-block and win back possession. Lesniak often drives forward with the ball to bridge the gap between the defense and the attack. Boisgard plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, looking to operate in the pockets of space between the lines. Boisgard connects the midfield to the front three by receiving the ball and playing through the lines.
In the attacking third, Piast uses three attackers across the front. Katsantonis acts as the central striker, tasked to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. On the flanks, Lokilo and Vallejo act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to stretch the defence. Vallejo and Lokilo look to cut inside to create overloads in central areas, while Katsantonis makes runs in behind to exploit the space. This front line works to press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.
Piast possesses the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to build play from the back. Another strength is the speed of transition when the ball is won by Lesniak or Łabojko. By quickly switching play to the wide players, the team can isolate wide players in one on one situations.
This 4-3-3 formation relies on high intensity and quick transitions to break down opponents. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play out from the back under pressure.
