Starting Lineup

Seeking to control the game through defensive solidity and rapid verticality, Atlético utilizes a 4-4-2 formation. This lineup is built to win the second ball and strike quickly when the opposition loses control. The team focuses on staying compact to deny space between the lines while remaining ready to hit in behind on the transition.

Jan Oblak guards the goal, providing a reliable presence for the back four. Godín sits as a dominant center back in the air, while Lucas acts as the covering defender to sweep behind the line. Juanfran operates as an attacking full back on the right to provide width, whereas Filipe Luís occupies the left to help build play from the back. This defensive unit stays narrow to force opponents wide.

The midfield works in a bank of four to squeeze the space. Koke ©, the captain, controls the tempo from the left and connects the defensive and attacking lines.
