CB Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Shiv · Ayush · Durgesh · Dhruv · Jigar · Sumit · Avaneesh · Prasham · Prince · Rupesh · JainelCB focuses on being defensively solid and waiting for the right moment to strike using a 5-4-1 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and frustrate opponents by clogging the middle of the pitch. The primary goal is to remain compact and use the width of the pitch only when the team transitions from a defensive block into an attacking threat.
Jainel stays between the posts to organize the back line. The defense uses a back five that can shift quickly to cover space. Prasham, Sumit, and Avaneesh form the central trio where Prasham acts as the main defender to win headers and clear the lines. Sumit and Avaneesh provide cover to ensure the defensive unit remains tight. On the flanks, Prince and Rupesh act as attacking wing backs who must track back to help the defenders but also push high to provide width.
A four man midfield sits in front of the back five to deny space between the lines. Dhruv and Jigar operate as central midfielders to control the tempo and win the second ball. Durgesh provides extra support to help the unit press and maintain a mid-block. Ayush plays in a more advanced role to link the midfield with the attack. This group works to squeeze the space and prevent the opposition from playing through the middle.
The attack relies on a lone striker, Shiv, who must hold up the ball and wait for support. Because the team is built for defense, Shiv often plays as a target man to bring others into the game. When the team wins the ball, Prince and Rupesh sprint forward to create width, while Ayush looks to find Shiv with passes through the lines. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball and win possession back high up the pitch.
One major advantage for CB is the compactness when defending in a low block. The players stay close together to deny the turn and force the opposition wide. Another strength is the ability to use the wing backs for quick transitions. When Prince or Rupesh carry the ball forward, they can create immediate threats on the break to exploit the space left behind the opposition defense.
This 5-4-1 formation is built to absorb pressure and strike on the counter. It is best suited for matches against teams that control possession and require a disciplined unit to break down.
