Inter focuses on a high press and quick transitions in a 3-5-2. This formation is built to dominate the middle of the pitch and use the wide areas to stretch the opposition. By utilizing a heavy midfield presence, Inter aims to win the ball back high up the pitch and move it forward through the lines with speed.

Martinez sits between the lines in goal to command the area. The defensive unit operates as a back three with Chalobah acting as the central anchor. Bastoni plays as the left centre-back to step into midfield and distribute the ball, while Akanji provides cover as the right centre-back. This back three works to maintain a high line and squeeze the space between the defense and the midfield.

The midfield operates with a three-man core complemented by wide players. Calhanoglu acts as the deep lying playmaker, looking to switch play and find the forwards with his passing range. Barella works to drive forward with the ball and press aggressively to win the ball back, while Camavinga connects the defensive and attacking lines with his ball carrying. Di Marco and Ndoye act as wing backs, providing width and overlapping the midfield to create extra numbers in the final third.

In the attacking third, Inter uses a partnership of two forwards. Lautaro plays as the primary striker, looking to find the feet of his partner or make runs in behind. Thuram plays alongside him to hold up the ball and create space for others. The wing backs, Di Marco and Ndoye, push high to provide service, often looking to whip it in or cut it back for late arrivals into the box. This combination of central presence and wide overloads makes the attack very difficult to track.

A major strength for Inter is the numerical superiority in midfield, which allows them to control the tempo of the game. The ability to use Di Marco and Ndoye to create wide overloads forces the opposition to stretch their defensive block. Additionally, the pressing intensity from Barella and the front two allows the team to win the second ball and break quickly in transition.

This 3-5-2 formation provides a heavy presence in the center and great width from the wing backs. It is best suited for games where Inter can squeeze the opposition and exploit spaces left during transitions.
