David Raya acts as the goalkeeper to start the build up from the back. The defensive unit operates as a flat back four with Saliba and Gabriel providing strength in the middle. Saliba acts as a ball playing defender to help play out from the back, while Gabriel is dominant in the air during defensive transitions. Calafiori plays as the left back to tuck inside, whereas Timber operates as the right back to provide stability. The back line works together to set the offside trap and maintain a high line to squeeze the space in the middle.

A single pivot system forms the base of the midfield, with Zubimendi sitting deep to shield the defence and pick up runners. To his sides, Rice and Ødegaard occupy the central roles to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Ødegaard uses his passing range to create from deep, while Rice acts as a carrier to drive forward with the ball. This three man midfield ensures the team can recycle possession and control the tempo of the game.

The attacking front line uses three attackers to pin the last defender and create constant pressure. Martinelli and Saka act as wide wingers who look to cut inside and threaten the box. Saka often looks to isolate a one on one wide, while Martinelli uses his pace to make runs in behind. Havertz leads the line as a pressing centre forward, looking to hold up the ball and lay it off to the runners. This front three works to press the opposition back line and ensure the attack stays vertical during transitions.

Arsenal offers several tactical advantages with this setup. The midfield provides numerical superiority in the center, making it difficult for opponents to bypass the middle third.
