Starting Lineup

JS · Ben · Rogue · Ginge · Kian · Denver · Bruno · Bdon · Brad · Mud · Ellis

Salford relies on a direct and vertical identity through a 3-5-2. This formation is built to win the second ball and hit teams in transition. The lineup looks to squeeze the space in the middle of the pitch while using wide players to stretch the defence.

JS starts in goal to manage the back line. The defensive unit functions with a back three consisting of Ben, Ginge, and Rogue. Ben holds the centre of the line to cover the space behind his partners. Ginge and Rogue act as the wide centre-backs, stepping up to engage attackers and intercept passes before they reach the central area. This trio works to keep a compact shape and protects the box when the team has to sit deep.

The midfield operates with a single pivot and two central midfielders to control the middle. Kian acts as the anchor to shield the defence and deny the pivot an easy way into the final third. Denver and Bruno occupy the central areas to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Denver drives forward with the ball to carry the ball forward into the half spaces, while Bruno looks to recycle possession and find the feet of the striker. On the flanks, Bdon and Brad act as wide midfielders to provide width and support the central block.

Salford uses two forwards in a partnership to lead the attack. Mud and Ellis operate as the front two, looking to make runs in behind the opposition defence. Mud often works to hold up the ball and bring others into play, while Ellis looks to find pockets of space between the lines. The team builds play by playing short from the back through the three defenders before looking to spray the ball wide to Bdon or Brad. Once the ball reaches the wings, the forwards press the opposition back line to force a long ball.

This formation offers several tactical advantages. The presence of Kian and the two central midfielders allows for numerical superiority in midfield when the team wins the ball. Salford can also create wide overloads by having Bdon and Brad push high to support the attacking movement. The three centre-backs provide great coverage to stop counter attacks when the wingers are caught far up the pitch.

This 3-5-2 formation focuses on central density and rapid transitions. It is best suited for matches against teams that play with a wide midfield to exploit the space behind the wingers.
