Gabriel *) · JOSEP (Calligaris, Di Gennaro)Inter focuses on a high press and rapid transitions through a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to control the pitch by squeezing the space in the middle and using wide players to stretch the opposition. The team looks to win the ball high up the pitch to catch opponents out of position before they can get organized.
JOSEP sits between the posts to command the area. The defensive line consists of a back three featuring BISSECK, BASTONI, and LACROIX or ALEXSANDRO. BASTONI acts as a ball playing defender who can step up into midfield to create an extra man, while BISSECK and LACROIX or ALEXSANDRO provide cover and are dominant in the air. The defenders work as a tight unit to protect the central zone and can shift laterally to deal with wide threats.
The midfield operates with two central players and two wide midfielders. BARELLA and ZIELINSKI form a two man engine room where ZIELSKI provides technical quality and BARELLA works to press aggressively and win the second ball. DIMARCO acts as an attacking wing back on the left, often pushing high to provide width and whip it in towards the box. On the right, KAYODE or BAKU provides the balance, either tracking back to defend or pushing forward to support the attack.
In the final third, Inter employs three attackers to pin the last defender. LAUTARO leads the line as a pressing centre forward who works to find the feet of his teammates and hold up the ball. THURAM plays on the right as an inverted winger who cuts inside to cause chaos, while ENCISO or ATTA stays wide on the left to stretch the defence. The team attacks in combinations, looking for runs in behind or quick one two movements to break the lines.
This formation offers several tactical advantages for Inter. The use of DIMARCO allows for wide overloads when he overlaps the winger, creating extra passing lanes. There is also a strong ability to press high in coordinated waves because of the aggressive nature of BARELLA and LAUTARO. This pressure often forces a long ball which the back three can easily intercept.
The 3-4-3 formation is a powerful tool for Inter to dominate games through intense pressing and verticality. It is best suited for matches against teams that try to play out from the back and leave space behind their midfield.
