Salford Football Formation
Starting Lineup
JS · Ben · Tyler · Evan · Kian · Marcus · Bruno · Bdon · Brad · Damo · EllisSalford focuses on a vertical style of play that relies on quick transitions and a heavy presence in the middle of the park using a 3-5-2. This formation is built to dominate the central zones and use wide players to stretch the opposition before hitting them in behind. The team looks to win the ball and move it forward rapidly to the front two.
JS stays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line operates as a back three with Ben acting as the central defender to hold the line. Tyler plays as the left centre back while Evan takes the right centre back role to cover the space behind the wing backs. This defensive unit works to stay compact and win the second ball whenever the opposition tries to play out from the back.
The midfield relies on a single pivot with Kian sitting deep to shield the defence and break up play. Bruno and Marcus operate as the central midfielders to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Bruno works to drive forward with the ball while Marcus looks to arrive late into the box to add extra goal threat. On the flanks, Bdon and Brad act as the wide midfielders, providing width and tracking back to help the defenders when the team sits deep.
The attacking front line uses two forwards in a partnership to pressure the opposition back line. Damo and Ellis work together to combine in tight spaces and make runs in behind the defenders. They often look to receive the ball with their backs to goal to hold up the ball before laying it off to oncoming runners. This pair is designed to create chaos through constant movement and quick one-two combinations.
One major advantage for Salford is the numerical superiority in midfield which allows them to control the tempo. The wide presence of Bdon and Brad allows for wide overloads that can pin the last defender. Additionally, the formation offers great speed of transition when the team wins the ball in the middle third.
This 3-5-2 formation provides a strong central block and quick attacking bursts. It is best suited for games against teams that play with a narrow midfield and struggle to track runners from deep.
