Starting Lineup

JS · Tyler · Ben · Evan · Kian · Marcus · Bruno · Brad · Mud · Lux · Damo

Salford aims to control the middle of the pitch and use verticality through a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup is built to play a high press and quick transitions to catch opponents out of position. The intention is to use the central density to win the ball back high up the pitch and move it forward rapidly to the two forwards.

JS operates between the posts to organize the back line. The defense functions as a back three where Tyler acts as the central defender to sweep behind a high line. Evan plays as the right centre-back to cover the wide areas, while Ben holds the left side of the defensive block. This trio works to keep the team compact and ensures the defenders can step up to squeeze the space when the team wins the ball.

In the middle of the pitch, Salford employs a three-man midfield with a single pivot. Kian sits in front of the defense to shield the back three and recycle possession. Bruno and Marcus act as the central duo, where Marcus drives forward with the ball to link the lines. This midfield unit is designed to win the second ball and immediately look to find the attackers in the final third.

The attacking front line uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the defense. Lux plays as the left striker to lead the press from the front, while Damo plays as the right striker to find space between the lines. Brad and Mud act as wing backs who provide width by pushing high to overlap the midfielders. This creates chances through runs in behind and allows the team to attack in combinations when they move into the attacking third.

One major strength of this formation is the numerical superiority in midfield that allows the team to dominate the central zone. The wing backs, Brad and Mud, create wide overloads that force the opposition to pull defenders out of position. Additionally, the ability to press in coordinated waves makes it very difficult for opponents to build play from the back.

This 3-5-2 formation relies on a strong central block and energetic wide players. It is best suited for games where the team needs to dominate the midfield and strike quickly on the break.
