PSG Football Formation
Starting Lineup
(2)PSG relies on a heavy defensive foundation to launch rapid counter attacks through a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and absorb pressure before hitting opponents in transition. The goal is to stay compact and wait for the moment to exploit the space left behind the opposition back line.
غمارة / بولي operates between the posts to command the area. The back five functions as a deep defensive block to deny space in central areas. عبد الكريم and عبد الإله act as the central duo, with عبد الإله focusing on covering space and عبد الكريم being dominant in the air. To the sides, عبد الرحمان and عبد الخالد act as attacking wing backs to provide width. حمزة sits in the middle of the defensive line to help clear the lines and secure the central zone.
A three-man midfield controls the middle of the pitch to protect the defense and recycle possession. رضى الله acts as the single pivot to shield the back five and intercept passes. Beside him, الرواس and ح.الشديدي work as two central midfielders who connect the defensive and attacking lines. الرواس looks to drive forward with the ball while ح.الشديدي stays closer to the pivot to maintain the team's defensive integrity. This unit works to win the second ball and quickly look for the forwards.
The attack uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the defense. لولو and الحرار work together to pin the last defender and make runs in behind. When the team wins the ball, the wing backs رضا and عبد الرحمان push high to provide width, allowing the two strikers to focus on central runs. This movement creates options for cutbacks or long balls to the strikers. The forwards are expected to press the opposition back line to force a long ball.
PSG gains a significant advantage through their ability to defend in a narrow defensive block, making it very hard to play through the center. The formation also allows for wide overloads when the wing backs join the attack. This creates numerical superiority in the wide areas during transition, making it difficult for the opposition to track back.
This 5-3-2 formation is a resilient setup designed to absorb pressure and strike on the break. It is best suited for games against teams that hold high possession and leave space behind their defenders.
