Milan aims to win the ball high up the pitch and hit teams on the transition using a 3-4-3. This formation is built to play with intense pressing and quick verticality. The lineup seeks to stretch the defence through wide runners while maintaining a compact block when out of possession.

Mike Maignan operates between the posts to command the area. The back three consists of Pavlovic, De Winter, and Gila 30, who defend zonally to cover space. Pavlovic acts as the left centre-back to provide stability, while Gila 30 covers the right side. De Winter plays as the central defender to win the header and sweep behind the line if the opposition breaks through. This defensive unit works to squeeze the space between the lines and force a long ball.

The midfield works as a central engine to connect the defence and attack. Rabiot and A. Atta 30 act as a double pivot to shield the defence and win the second ball. Rabiot helps to recycle possession, while A. Atta 30 drives forward with the ball to break the line. On the flanks, P. Dorgu 40 and Alexis provide the width. P. Dorgu 40 acts as an attacking wing back to overlap the winger, whereas Alexis helps to push the play wide and provide service from the right.

Milan uses three attackers to pin the last defender and create chances. C. Pulisic and Greenwood 55 act as inverted wingers who cut inside to find space in the half spaces. Pulisic uses his dribbling style to move towards the goal, while Greenwood 55 looks to isolate a one-on-one wide. G. Ramos 70 leads the line as a pressing centre-forward to harass the opposition back line. The front three combine in tight spaces to create runs in behind or deliver early crosses into the box.

This formation offers several tactical advantages. The team can create wide overloads from the overlapping runs of P. Dorgu 40 and Alexis. The double pivot of Rabiot and A. Atta 30 ensures numerical superiority in midfield to control the center of the pitch. Additionally, the high pressing from G. Ramos 70 and the front three allows Milan to win it back high up the pitch.

The 3-4-3 formation provides a high level of aggression and width. It is best suited for matches against teams that play a high line and can be caught on the transition.
