East Bengal Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Foreign CB · Anwar Ali/Jay · Jeakson/Nunga · Boris/Hardik · Dani Ramirez/Mahesh · Foreign DM/Rashid · Danish/Souvik/Rohit · Bipin/Vishnu · Gill/Lachenpa · Foreign Striker · Edmund/David/DanuEast Bengal plays with a high press and a heavy emphasis on winning the ball high up the pitch through a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup is built to overwhelm the opposition in the middle of the park and use quick transitions to catch defenders out of position. By maintaining a compact shape in the center, the team aims to dictate the tempo and dominate the central areas of the field.
In goal, Gill/Lachenpa acts as the last line of defense for East Bengal. The defensive unit works with a back three, where Foreign CB holds the center of the line. Anwar Ali/Jay operates as the left centre-back, while Jeakson/Nunga plays as the right centre-back. This trio must stay connected to prevent through balls, with the centre-back often stepping into midfield to help progress the ball. The wide defenders in this three must be ready to shift across to cover the flanks when the wing backs push high.
The midfield is a crowded engine room designed to control the game through a five man unit. A double pivot consisting of Danish/Souvik/Rohit and Foreign DM/Rashid sits deep to shield the defense and protect the back three. Ahead of them, Bipin/Vishnu and Boris/Hardik operate as central midfielders to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Dani Ramirez/Mahesh plays in a more advanced role to link the midfield to the front two, often dropping deep to receive the ball and recycle possession. This group works to squeeze the space and ensure the opposition cannot play through the middle.
The attack relies on a two man partnership to lead the line. Foreign Striker and Edmund/David/Danu work together to pin the last defender and create space for others. One forward often acts as a target man to hold up the ball, while the other looks to make runs in behind the defense. They press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition, allowing the midfield to win the second ball. The goal is to create combinations between the forwards and the attacking midfielders to split the defense with quick passes.
A major advantage of this formation is the numerical superiority in midfield, which allows the team to dominate the ball. The wide areas are stretched by the wing backs, creating wide overloads that force the opposition to spread thin. This setup also allows the team to press in coordinated waves, making it very difficult for opponents to build play from the back.
This 3-5-2 formation is built for high intensity and central dominance. It is best suited for matches against teams that try to play through the middle and can be exploited by quick transitions.
