Starting Lineup
Nübel (Doğan) · Murillo (Taylan) · Agbadou (Emirhan) · Djalo (Yasin) · Transfer/Outtara (Rıdvan) · Ndidi (Transfer) · Orkun (Kartal) · Cerny (Rashica) · Transfer (Oh/Hekimoğlu/Semih) · Transfer (İlhan) · Salih (Olaitan)Besiktas aims to control games through a high press and rapid verticality using a 4-3-3. This formation is built to win the ball high up the pitch and move quickly through the thirds to catch the opposition out of position. The goal is to use wide areas to stretch the defence and create chances in central areas.
Nübel starts in goal to organize the back line. The defence functions as a flat back four where Murillo plays as a right back to provide width and Agbadou operates as a right centre back. Djalo acts as the left centre back to provide cover and strength, while Transfer/Outtara plays as the left back. This unit is tasked to play out from the back and hold a high line to squeeze the space.
The midfield features a single pivot with Ndidi sitting in front of the defence to shield the back four and intercept passes. Orkun and Salih operate as two inverted eights who connect the defensive and attacking lines. Orkun looks to drive forward with the ball and Orkun and Salih must press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch. This three man midfield works to control the center and recycle possession when needed.
Besiktas uses three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. Transfer plays as a left winger who wants to cut inside and Cerny acts as a right winger to provide width. The lone striker, also named Transfer, acts as a pressing centre forward to force a long ball from the opposition. The attack relies on quick combinations and runs in behind to exploit the space left by high defensive lines.
One tactical advantage for Besiktas is the ability to press high in coordinated waves from the front three and the midfield trio. The presence of Ndidi provides security to allow Orkun and Salih to push up, creating numerical superiority in the middle of the park. This allows the team to quickly transition from a mid block to a direct attack once the ball is won.
This 4-3-3 formation relies on a high intensity press and quick vertical passing to break lines. It is best suited for games where the opponent plays a high line or struggles to play out from the back under pressure.
