Huracán operates as a defensively solid unit through a 5-4-1 formation. The team looks to sit deep and soak up pressure before hitting the opposition on the break. This lineup is built to frustrate attackers and maintain a compact block that is hard to break down in the middle of the pitch.

GONZALEZ guards the goal as the last line of defense. The back five consists of a central trio made up of LOPEZ, LATORRE, and LEGUIZAMON. LOPEZ acts as the central anchor while LATORRE and LEGUIZAMON cover the spaces to the sides. On the flanks, BARRIOS works as a left wing back and ANDRAGNES operates as a right wing back to provide width. This defensive unit works to stay narrow to protect the central area and relies on the wide defenders to track back when the opposition moves into the wide zones.

In front of the defense, a four man midfield works to squeeze the space between the lines. LUNA and MARTINEZ occupy the central roles to shield the defense and win the second ball. LUNA helps to recycle possession, while MARTINEZ drives forward to connect the play. On the wings, DIAZ and PALACIOS provide width in the midfield to help the team transition from a defensive block to an attacking phase. This group works to deny the turn to opposition midfielders and keeps the formation tight.

The attacking phase relies on a lone striker, RIVAS, who stays high to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. Because the team plays with a single striker, the wide players DIAZ and PALACIOS must support him during transitions. RIVAS looks to find the feet of the striker or play with the wing backs when they overlap. The goal is to use the speed of the players to hit in behind on the transition and create chances when the opposition is stretched.

Huracán offers several tactical advantages with this lineup. The five man back line provides great compactness when defending in a low block. This makes it very difficult for opponents to find gaps between the defenders. Additionally, the team can use the wide players to create quick transitions, catching the opposition out of position as they push forward.

This 5-4-1 formation is designed to remain stubborn and difficult to beat. It is best suited for matches against dominant teams where Huracán needs to defend deep and strike on the counter.
