Huracán aims to play a very direct and defensive game using a 5-4-1 formation. This lineup relies on staying compact and waiting for the right moment to hit the opposition on the break. The goal is to deny space in the middle and stay hard to beat in a low block.

GONZALEZ sits between the posts to guard the goal. The defensive unit consists of a back five that stays narrow to protect the central areas. LOPEZ acts as the central defender to hold the line while LATORRE and LEGUIZAMON provide cover on either side. To provide width, ANDRAGNES and BARRIOS push up as wing backs to help in transition. This group works to squeeze the space between the lines and ensure they remain difficult to penetrate.

The midfield operates as a flat four to maintain a compact block. LUNA and ALTAMIRANO occupy the central roles to shield the defense and win the second ball. LUNA works to connect the defense and attack, while ALTAMIRANO is tasked to press in a mid-block. On the flanks, DIAZ and GULINO provide width and work hard to track back when the team loses possession. This midfield unit focuses on recycling possession and making sure the team stays defensively solid.

RIVAS plays as a lone striker at the front of the formation. His main job is to hold up the ball and wait for the midfielders to join the attack. He must press the opposition back line to force a long ball and prevent them from building from the back. The attack relies on the wing backs, ANDRAGNES and BARRIOS, to provide width and deliver crosses into the box. The team looks to play through the lines once they win the ball back to find RIVAS in tight spaces.

Huracán uses this formation to gain numerical superiority in the defensive third. By sitting deep, they create a very compact shape that is hard to break down. The wide players, DIAZ and GULINO, allow the team to transition quickly when they win the ball. This setup also allows the wing backs to push up and create wide overloads in the attacking third.

This 5-4-1 formation is designed to be defensively solid and effective on the counter. It is best suited for matches against teams that dominate possession where Huracán needs to protect their goal and hit on the break.
