Türkiye National Football Team Formation
Starting Lineup
RÜÇTÜ · ALPAY · TERIM · BÜLENT · ABDULLAH · ALTINTOP · TUGAY · CALHANOGLU · BASTÜRK · SÜKÜR · NIHATTürkiye aims to control the middle of the pitch and use quick transitions through a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup is built to dominate central areas while remaining compact when the ball is lost. The team relies on a strong core to win second balls and launch direct attacks toward the strikers.
RÜÇTÜ stands between the posts to organize the back line. The defensive unit operates with a back three consisting of TERIM, BÜLENT, and ALPAY. TERIM acts as the central anchor to command the area, while BÜLENT and ALPAY provide cover on either side to deal with runners. This back three stays close together to defend zonally and keep the lines tight.
The midfield is a dense engine room featuring a double pivot of ALTINTOP and ABDULLAH. These two work to shield the defence and recycle possession when playing out from the back. Ahead of them, TUGAY and CALHANOGLU operate as inverted eights to connect the lines and carry the ball forward. CALCHANOGLU uses his passing range to switch play, while BASTÜRK plays as an attacking ten in the hole to find pockets of space.
The attacking front line uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the opposition. NIHAT and SÜKÜR lead the press from the front to force a long ball from the opponents. SÜKÜR acts as the target man to hold up the ball, allowing NIHAT to make runs in behind. They combine in tight spaces to pull the last defender out of position and create chances through quick one-two passes.
This formation offers several tactical advantages for Türkiye. The five-man midfield creates numerical superiority in the center, making it hard for opponents to play through the middle. The team can also use the width provided by the midfielders to isolate wide players in one on one situations. This setup allows for quick transitions once the ball is won high up the pitch.
This 3-5-2 formation provides a heavy presence in the central third to control the tempo. It is best suited for games where the team needs to squeeze the space in midfield and hit opponents on the break.
