Starting Lineup

Pandur · McCrorie · Rommens · Godfrey · Fernandez · Neil · Chukwuani · Curtis · Shankand · Naderi · Chermiti

Rangers aim to play a direct and high tempo game using a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup is built to stretch the opposition and win the ball back high up the pitch. By pushing bodies forward, the team seeks to overwhelm the opponent in transition and create scoring chances through rapid verticality.

Pandur sits between the posts to command the area and organize the defense. The back line functions as a flat back four, with McCrorie and Rommens acting as full backs. McCrorie focuses on holding the line while Rommens provides width by pushing up the left flank. In the center, Godfrey and Fernandez act as the main defensive duo, with Godfrey providing aerial strength and Fernandez covering space behind the high line to ensure the team stays compact when the opposition tries to play through the lines.

The midfield relies on a double pivot to bridge the gap between defense and attack. Neil and Chukwuani occupy the central roles, tasked with winning the second ball and recycling possession to the wide players. Neil works to shield the defense and protect the center, while Chukwuani acts as a carrier to drive the ball forward into the half spaces. This two man unit must remain disciplined to prevent being bypassed during periods when the team loses control of the middle of the park.

The attacking unit is extremely aggressive, utilizing four players to pin the last defender. Curtis and Naderi operate as wide wingers, with Curtis looking to cut inside and Naderi to pull wide and whip it in. Ahead of them, Shankand and Chermiti function as a striking partnership. Shankand acts as a physical presence to hold up the ball, while Chermiti looks to make runs in behind the defensive line. This front line is designed to press from the front, forcing mistakes and creating opportunities in transition.

One major advantage for Rangers is the ability to create wide overloads through the combination of the full backs and the wingers. By spreading the play, the team stretches the defence and opens gaps in the middle. Another strength is the speed of transition, as the team can move from a mid block to a complete attacking onslaught in seconds. This setup also allows for high pressing in coordinated waves to win the ball back quickly.

This 4-2-4 formation is a high risk, high reward system centered on vertical attacking play. It is best suited for matches where the team needs to break down a low block or exploit an opponent that plays with a high defensive line.
