Starting Lineup

Salford aims to control the central areas and strike quickly with a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup is built to play a vertical game that relies on winning the second ball and using the extra bodies in the middle to dominate matches. The team looks to squeeze the space when they do not have the ball, making it very difficult for opponents to play through the lines.

Bruno stands between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back three consists of Evan in the center, with George acting as the right centre-back and Lux playing as the left centre-back. Evan acts as the main presence to win the header and clear the lines during set pieces. George and Lux must stay close to each other to cover the space behind the midfield, while being ready to step up to intercept passes. This defensive block functions to keep the team compact and prevent any direct runs in behind.

The midfield engine room is where Salford exerts its influence. Ben acts as the single pivot, sitting deep to shield the defence and collect the ball from the back three. Kian and Bdon operate as the two central midfielders, with Kian looking to carry the ball forward and Bdon working to connect the lines. Mud and Shiesty play as the wide midfielders, tasked with providing width and tracking back to help the defenders. This midfield group works to press in a mid-block and ensure they always have a passing option to recycle possession.

In the final third, the team utilizes two forwards in a partnership. Brad and Ellis act as the two strikers, working together to pin the last defender and create chaos in the box. Brad often looks to hold up the ball to allow others to join the attack, while Ellis focuses on making runs in behind to stretch the defence. The wide players, Mud and Shiesty, will often look to overlap the strikers or deliver a cross to find the feet of the strikers. This movement creates many combinations in tight spaces.

One major advantage for Salford is the numerical superiority in midfield, which allows them to control the tempo of the game. The presence of Ben, Kian, and Bdon makes it very hard for the opposition to find space between the lines. Additionally, the formation provides great flexibility to shift between a back five and a back three when the wide midfielders track back. This makes the team very hard to break down when they sit deep.
