Aldershot relies on a high press to win the ball high up the pitch, utilizing a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to play vertical football, looking to exploit spaces behind the opposition defense through rapid transitions. By keeping the lines tight, the team seeks to squeeze the space in the middle and force opponents into mistakes.

The goalkeeper acts as the first point of distribution when the team plays out from the back. Behind a flat back four, the LCB and RCB must be ready to step up to maintain a high line and catch attackers offside. The LB and RB act as attacking full backs, pushing high to provide width while the central defenders cover the space left behind. This defensive unit works together to defend zonally and maintain a compact block when the team does not have the ball.

The midfield is organized with a three-man midfield featuring a CAM playing as an attacking ten behind the striker.
