Alonso holds the line while Lago operates as the right center back to cover the wide areas. U. Núñez plays as the left center back, providing strength to win the second ball and defend zonally. The unit works together to squeeze the space and prevent the opposition from playing through the lines.

A central midfield pairing of Moriba and Febas controls the center of the pitch. Moriba works to press aggressively to win the ball high, while Febas connects the defensive and attacking lines by recycling possession. They must maintain a compact shape to deny the turn to opposing midfielders. This midfield duo also helps to protect the back three by shifting to cover the wide areas when the wing backs push up.

The attacking unit uses three attackers to pin the last defender. Iglesias acts as the lone striker, looking to find the feet of the striker and hold up the ball for others. Swedberg plays as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside and create threats. Durán operates on the right, looking to get to the byline or find space to hit in behind on the transition. Carreira and Galán play as wide midfielders to provide width and support the forwards through constant running.

One major advantage for Celta is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, which forces long balls from the opposition. The formation also creates wide overloads because Carreira and Galán can push up to overlap the wingers. This makes it difficult for opponents to defend the flanks while also managing the central threats of Iglesias and the advancing midfielders.
